Glow from Within: Pregnancy Smoothie
1/2 cup blueberries
Blueberries are called a super food for a reason! They're jam-packed with vitamin C, amazing anti-oxidants, folate and fibre, all which are great for your during pregnancy. Some mamas really don't like the texture of blueberries- so whizzing them up in a pregnancy smoothie eliminates that mushy texture but keeps the incredible benefits.
1/2 cup frozen strawberries or raspberries
Full of folic acid, Vitamin C and naturally sweet, strawberries are perfect for all you mamas with a sweet tooth! Using frozen strawberries or raspberries means you've always got them on hand no matter the season. Plus the iciness of the frozen strawberries helps with the texture of the smoothie.
1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt
You can use a dairy or non dairy version depending on your personal preference. This helps with the texture, aids digestion and is full of probiotics.
3/4 cup of orange juice
Another boost of Vitamin C plus it stops the smoothie from becoming too thick.
2 tablespoons ground chia seed
Chia seeds are full of protein and fibre and bursting with omegas. Whilst your pregnant baby taps into your own precious store of omegas to help him or her grow and develop, meaning you need even more than usual. Popping ground chia seeds into a pregnancy smoothie is one of the easiest ways to boost your nutrients intake.
