Baby yoga is a great way to help get your baby ready for walking and crawling, and it’s a perfect way to help you and your little one bond. It can calm and stimulate your baby with a sense of security and well-being. You don’t need to practice yoga or even know anything about it to get started, but it is really beneficial! Baby yoga includes a wide range of different practices that can be combined to suit the needs of each baby or toddler through their individual development, so you can relax and enjoy it with them!
What age should I start doing baby yoga with my little one?
From 3 months onwards is an ideal time to start your baby with baby yoga, although some may accept younger babies if the class is appropriate.
What will the class do for my baby?
They consist of a mix of movement and relaxation for both you and your baby. The classes usually begin with a warm up where you’ll both go through some simple moves along to some soothing music. It could include some baby massaging or easy stretching.
How shall I dress my baby and I?
In cool, comfortable clothing that will allow you to stretch without being constricted. The majority of the yoga moves will require movement like stretching, swings and holds to help build your baby’s strength and co-ordination.
Will we both be doing the same thing?
Some of the baby yoga moves will have variations for grown-ups so you can do the, along side. Your instructor will help emphasise the correct breathing which you can do whilst working with your baby.
How will my baby benefit?
Some of the moves that you will be shown will really help your baby stretch without any strain. And will also help co-ordination for when they start crawling/walking. A great benefit for your baby is your physical touch which can help with your bonding and your baby’s confidence, it can also aid your baby’s sleeping pattern and digestion.
